Patti McClintock, owner and head instructor, has taught martial arts and self defense since 1978 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and San Diego, California. From 1987 to 1997, Patti worked full time providing self defense and personal safety instruction to the San Diego area. Her diverse experiences in teaching include workshops for corporations, military, college campuses as well as non-profit community organizations such as rape crisis centers and youth organizations. Her work with abuse and assault survivors gained much support from local mental health professionals. While in San Diego Patti was often interviewed by radio, television and print on issues relating to personal safety and sexual assault.

Patti has instructor certifications in self defense through the Southern California Rape Hotline Alliance (1988), American Women’s Self Defense Association (1993), Rape Aggression Defense Systems (1994). She is a 6th Degree Black Belt in Chinese Kempo and has attained black belts in two additional systems of karate, Shorin Ryu (1980) and American Kenpo (1988). Patti completed specialized training with the local rape crisis center over a ten year period in San Diego where she gained experience as a hot-line counselor, hospital advocate, and community speaker on topics of violence and sexual assault.

In 2001, Patti attained her certification as a personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise. The additional experience in physical and lifestyle fitness has broadened and enhanced the scope of Patti’s workshops.
